Indian Embassy in Croatia presented
to the public an insight
of that incredibly rich country.
The Days of India began on 19 January in Umag in front of the City Hall
around the Peace Tree with the Ambassador of India, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, the Mayor of Umag,
Mr. Bassanese and Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vivekpuri. A hundred people attended Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vivekpuri’s lecture "Yoga, Ayurveda and Kalaripayatu - Indian Heritage to the World".
Makar Sankranti festival lecture in Westin Hotel, Zagreb
More than 170 people attended the lecture in which Swami Vivek Puri clarified the meaning of the Makar Sankranti festival:
"Makar Sankranti marks the ending of winter. At this festival day, the skies over India and Nepal are full of kites, a wonderful tradition when families and neighbors, young and old, let fly colorful kites in the wind. Apart from the joy that follows this tradition, it has a deeper meaning: It is believed that a year will be as successful as the kite reaches its height, and a kite also represents our mind, played by the winds of many thoughts, desires, and impressions, and the string that binds it reminds us that we should control it."
