The Shiva Mandir – Hindu Gesellschaft Austria celebrated on 2nd and 3rd March Maha Shivaratri in the festive hall of the community center Floridsdorf in Vienna.

Lord Shiva personifies the highest Cosmic Consciousness that - itself uncreated - has created the entire universe. Shiva is very kind and merciful and he forgives all our mistakes when we turn to him with pure heart. All beings are his children and he loves all equally.

From all parts of Europe our yoga-friends came to celebrate this satsang together with Swamiji in Vienna. There was a colourful program on both days: bhajans, Bharatanatyam Indian Classical Dance performed by Bhakti Devi and the students of the Indische Tanzschule Wien, Shiva Purana videos and Swamiji's satsang with comments and explanations of the meaning of Shivaratri and its symbols.

At the end of his satsang Swamiji spoke a blessing and prayer for all: "May Lord Shiva bless all of us with Bhakti (devotion to God), Shakti (energy), Gyana (wisdom) and Moksha (liberation). May the divine Flame be in our hearts always radiating mercy, forgiveness and love for all living beings."
