Yoga in Daily Life Europe – Summer Specials
In many countries during the northern hemisphere summer, Yoga in Daily Life is offering special free outdoor yoga classes in city squares, parks and beaches, to give more people an opportunity to experience the benefits of yoga and inspire them to practice.

Every summer in numerous cities, Yoga in Daily Life - Croatia has very popular and very well attended “Free Outdoor Yoga” programs in Zagreb, Rijeka, Split, Labin, Samobor and Varazdin, that take place in parks and on the most popular beaches in Croatia. The programs have been organized for 12 years in a row and are very popular with locals, as well as many tourists visiting Croatia for the summer, especially on the Adriatic Coast.
In Cakovec, Croatia (which administratively belongs to the Vienna YIDL Society), there are also Yoga in the Park summer programs.
In Novo Mesto there are free outdoor programs in the park of Grad Grm (a 16th century historic castle).
In Domzale, Yoga in the Park is praciticed in the beautiful Volcji Potok Arboretum, the most popular botanical garden in Slovenia.
Also in Ljubljana, Maribor, Koper, Nova Gorica, Popetre, Kranj, Celje, Ribnica, there are YIDL summer programs for the public, in parks and on the beaches.
In Stara Tura, there are yoga classes on Sundays in the City Square. The program is free, and voluntary donations are collected for a humanitarian aim - currently to give financial support to a family with two boys who suffer from muscular dystrophy.
There is also a special 6-week Summer Khatu Pranam Course; and together with the town of Presov, yoga holiday retreats are organized with vegan raw food and Hatha Yoga Kriyas, in the paradise location of Liptovska Teplicka.
In Martin, the groups are practicing yoga in the gardens of the Slovak National Museum.
In Kutna Hora, in July and August, a summer program is taking place in the newly renovated garden of the Jesuit College. Practice is attended by about 70 practitioners, of which about 1/3 are new beginners trying yoga for the first time.
Olomouc is offering Yoga in the Park by donation for the Gyan Putra project. Also in Prague and Zlin there are public summer yoga programs.
In Vienna, a now traditional free Yoga in the Park took place this summer in the City Park in the center of Vienna, and was again well attended by about 30 enthusiastic participants each time.
In the Hammerpark of St. Pölten, free yoga was offered in July. In August and September there will be additional special outdoor yoga programs. On 22 July a group enjoyed a Yoga & Hiking Day to the Tirolerkogel (1380m) in the alps of Lower Austria. Swami Haripuri from India, who is presently staying in Vienna Ashram, also took part in this nice trip.
In Salzburg, there was yoga in Hellbrunn Park during July, with between 50 and 70 participants each Friday. The event has been popular for some years. Participants are between 15-75 years old, and even mothers with very young children join in, and of course tourists too, from 6-7 different countries. People report that they like practicing in nature, and they are also very open and interested, with nice conversations after the classes.
In Budapest, a very special program was organised in July – on the invitation of the Shelter House Foundation, Budapest, Hungary at the Families’ Temporary Homes, which provide interim shelter and professional care for impoverished families and pregnant single mothers; a Yoga in Daily Life session was led by Dr. Katalin Völgyi (Jaya Devi), the Vice-President of YIDL-Győr on 24 July, 2017. The YIDL class, which comprised asanas, pranayama, relaxation and meditation, was joined by the temporary residents of the shelter, as well as international volunteers of the Foundation and their family members.
YIDL Society Szeged are organizing free, open air summer yoga programs in three cities: Szeged, Melykút and Kecskemét. On each occasion, usually around 50-60 people come to practice the Yoga in Daily Life System.
In Nyíregyháza Yoga in Park was held in the Botanic Gardens, at the time of sunset - in a peaceful atmosphere with plenty of birds singing.
In Tata there is a special summer program in the yard of the Szengyörgymező Kindergarten.
Local members of Yoga in Daily Life organized a Raw Food and Yoga Day in Luxembourg. The event was prepared together with YIDL friends from Slovakia and Czech Republics. It was a very beautiful day with about 20 participants.
