Celebrating the International Day of Yoga 2026 Around the Globe
Yoga in Daily Life unites thousands worldwide
Throughout June 2026, Yoga in Daily Life centres around the world celebrated the International Day of Yoga by offering free yoga classes, meditation sessions, workshops and community events. Guided by the timeless teachings of Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Sri Swami Maheshwarananda Puri Ji, all events were conducted according to The System, Yoga in Daily Life, sharing its holistic approach to physical health, mental balance, emotional wellbeing and spiritual growth.
The main international celebration took place on 21 June in the beautiful Mozirski gaj, Slovenia, led by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Sri Avatar Puri Ji, the successor of Vishwaguru Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda Ji in the living lineage of the Yoga in Daily Life tradition.
Thousands of participants celebrated yoga in Austria, Australia, Canada, China, Croatia, Czechia, Germany, Hungary, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the USA, demonstrating that yoga truly unites people beyond all borders.
Slovenia – Main International Celebration
The central International Day of Yoga celebration was held at Mozirski gaj, the world's only botanical garden featuring a permanent installation of the chakra symbols, created according to the vision of Vishwaguruji, as presented in his book The Hidden Power in Humans – Chakras and Kundalini
This year, the Chakra Park was further enriched with a new installation honouring Vishwaguruji and Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Avatar Puri Ji.
Led by Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Avatar Puri Ji, the celebration brought together more than 500 participants from Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, Czechia and Slovakia, together with Dr Manfred Stepponat, President of the International Sri Deep Madhavananda Ashram Fellowship, as well as representatives of the media. The programme featured a large public yoga practice based on the Yoga in Daily Life system, a special children's programme, a yoga fair, and a joyful community gathering in the inspiring surroundings of nature.
Addressing the participants, Swami Avatar Puri Ji said:
"Peace is that which brings us deep, stable happiness; and our desire is for peace to prevail throughout the entire world. Therefore, we will dedicate a few minutes to the group chanting OM with this intention."
The collective chanting of OM created a powerful atmosphere of unity, peace and harmony, reflecting the true spirit of the International Day of Yoga.

More than 30 years after opening its peaceful yoga centre surrounded by gardens and mango trees, Yoga in Daily Life Brisbane celebrated with free yoga, relaxation, pranayama, meditation, and a warm community gathering.

Participants gathered for a free community yoga class in Balwyn, followed by an online meditation session, celebrating yoga's ability to cultivate strength, balance, inner peace and community.
Canada
The celebration in Vancouver included a lecture on environmental awareness, organic rice planting, yoga practice, and a community potluck under the guidance of Swami Daya Mata Ji.
China
Online celebrations connected practitioners from Haikou, Shanghai, and Chengdu, led by Swami Daya Mata Ji, bringing together the Yoga in Daily Life family across China.
Croatia
Yoga in Daily Life centres across Croatia celebrated the International Day of Yoga with free public yoga classes in Rijeka, Zagreb, Split, Novigrad, Labin, Rovinj, Umag, Vukovar, Varaždin, Karlovac, and Samobor.
From peaceful parks to the beautiful beaches of the Adriatic Coast, people of all ages came together to experience the joy of authentic yoga and celebrate the values of health, harmony, and inner peace.

The main International Day of Yoga celebration in Czechia, organised together with the Indian Embassy, welcomed over 300 participants in front of Prague Castle. Together with 20 free yoga classes held throughout the week, nearly 600 people experienced the Yoga in Daily Life system.
Yoga in Daily Life centres across Czechia also celebrated the International Day of Yoga with free public classes and special gatherings in Brno, Mahaprabhudip Ashram Střílky, Kutná Hora, Žďár nad Sázavou, Olomouc and Blansko, sharing the values of health, harmony, and inner peace with local communities.

To celebrate the International Day of Yoga, Yoga in Daily Life Hungary organised free public yoga classes in Nyíregyháza and Szeged, welcoming people of all ages to experience the benefits of authentic yoga.

Participants in Oaxaca enjoyed a "Special Yoga Morning" featuring relaxation, asanas, pranayama, guided meditation by Vishwaguruji, presentations on the Yoga in Daily Life system and its spiritual lineage, and devotional bhajans (songs). Many participants described a profound feeling of peace and inner fulfilment.

Yoga in Daily Life offered free yoga sessions for children and students, followed by a full day of yoga classes, yoga nidra, meditation, and refreshments at Sri Mahaprabhuji Ashram in Wellington and Auckland. The celebration in Wellington was honoured by the presence of Mr Vijay Chauhan, Second Secretary of the High Commission of India.

The celebration included yoga practice at the Embassy of India in Warsaw, followed by a yagya (fire ceremony) for world peace, satsang, meditation, mantra chanting, and bhajans (devotional songs).
Romania
Celebrations began with joyful yoga for children, followed by environmental education promoting harmony with nature. A full-day programme at Sri Alakhpuriji Ashram and additional free classes in Nădlac and Pecica brought together nearly 50 practitioners.
Serbia
Surrounded by the beauty of nature, the Yoga in Daily Life community in Novi Sad celebrated the International Day of Yoga with a joyful outdoor yoga class, welcoming everyone to experience the benefits of authentic yoga. Practising together in the fresh air, participants embraced the spirit of health, harmony and inner peace, celebrating yoga's power to unite people with themselves, with nature, and with one another.

Yoga in Daily Life centres across Slovakia celebrated the International Day of Yoga with a variety of free public programmes, bringing together practitioners, families and local communities.
In Banská Bystrica, the celebration was organised in cooperation with Matej Bel University, featuring yoga for adults and children and attracting around 80 participants.
In Martin, visitors enjoyed a joyful day of yoga, mantras, children's programmes, interviews, and shared vegetarian refreshments.
Levoča welcomed participants with a public yoga practice in the town square, complemented by an inspiring lecture on the four dimensions of health.
Celebrations also took place in Martin, Jelenec, and Prievidza, where local Yoga in Daily Life communities gathered to share the benefits of authentic yoga in a spirit of health, harmony, and togetherness.

Yoga in Daily Life in the UK celebrated the International Day of Yoga with two free events in London: a Relax & Restore gentle yoga evening session in the divinely peaceful atmosphere of St Anne's Church, on Thursday evening 18 June, led by visiting teacher Swami Ganga Mata, from YIDL Scotland; and the warm Summer Solstice weather allowed for an outdoor session on Sunday morning 21 June, under the trees in Queen's Park, including asanas, pranayama and meditation.

Free public yoga classes were held at Lotus Ranch, Commerce, Georgia, welcoming the local community to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.

The International Day of Yoga was also celebrated with great enthusiasm in many other Yoga in Daily Life centres, bringing together thousands of people through the universal message of yoga.
Together, these celebrations beautifully reflected the vision of Vishwaguru Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda Ji – that authentic yoga is a way of life leading to health, harmony, peace and unity for all humanity.
Today, this living tradition continues under the guidance of Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Avatar Puri Ji. As a young, internationally respected spiritual teacher, he travels extensively around the world, inspiring people through his authentic yet contemporary presentation of the timeless wisdom of traditional yoga received from his Master. Through his teachings, seminars, satsangs, and personal example, he continues to preserve and share The System – Yoga in Daily Life, ensuring that its practical and spiritual benefits reach new generations around the globe.
