Swami Avatar Puriji on a pilgrimage to Haridwar and Rishikesh
In September 2025, Swami Avatar Puriji, with the blessings of Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Sri Swami Maheshwaranandaji (Vishwaguruji), set forth on a Holy Yatra to the sacred cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh, by the banks of the River Ganga, to offer prayers and perform pujas for peace, harmony and the well-being of all.
As a representative of OM Ashram, one of the most significant spiritual projects in modern India and the world, Swami Avatar Puriji visited Nirvan Pithadishwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishokanand Bharti Ji, Yog Guru Baba Ramdev, and several esteemed Mahamandaleshwars of the Shri Panchayati Mahanirvani Akhara.
In each meeting, he carried forth the message of Vishwaguruji’s vision – building bridges between tradition and the present age, and uniting people through yoga, spirituality and selfless service.
Pilgrimage to Sri Devpuriji’s Cave
On 22nd September, with Vishwaguruji’s blessings and Swami Avatar Puriji’s heartfelt well-wishes, a group of Yoga in Daily Life devotees set forth from Rishikesh on a sacred pilgrimage to the holy cave of Sri Devpuriji in the Garhwal Himalayas.
At Surya Kund near Satopanth, at an elevation of 4,500m, lies the cave where Sri Devpuriji engaged in deep meditation and received the divine vision and darshan of Sri Alakhpuriji. At that place, Sri Alakhpuriji bestowed His blessings upon Sri Devpuriji, awakening within him the radiant, eternal qualities of God Shiva. For this reason, Sri Devpuriji is venerated as an incarnation of Shiva Himself.
In this holy place, sanctified by Sri Devpuriji’s intense tapasya (austerities), devotees humbly offered their homage, receiving the nectar of the Himalayas and the blessings of the OM Sri Alakhpuriji Siddha Peeth Parampara.
Visit to Someshwar Dham, Haridwar
Swami Avatar Puriji also visited his respected teacher, Nirvan Pithadishwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishokanand Bharti Ji, at his main ashram, Someshwar Dham in Haridwar.
With deep reverence, Swami Avatar Puriji paid respects to the teacher under whose guidance he spent many years in the intense study of Vedic science, yoga and tapasya. This meeting served as a beautiful reminder of the timeless bond between teacher and disciple, rooted in devotion, discipline and wisdom.
Meeting with Yog Guru Baba Ramdev
In Haridwar, Swami Avatar Puriji visited Patanjali Yogpeeth, where he was warmly received by Yog Guru Baba Ramdev. Together they shared inspiration, exchanged blessings, and reflected on the future of yoga and spirituality both in India and across the world.
This meeting highlighted the unity of spiritual leaders in preserving and spreading the timeless wisdom of yoga, while working towards its global relevance and impact.
Sacred Darshans and Blessed Encounters
Swami Avatar Puriji was warmly welcomed by Mahamandaleshwars and spiritual leaders of the Shri Panchayati Mahanirvani Akhara, longstanding friends of Vishwaguruji. He visited Mahamandaleshwar Swami Girdhari Giri Ji at Krishna Niwas Ashram and Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shraddha Giri Ji together with Mahant Swami Gayatri Giri Ji at Swaroopand Sanyas Ashram.
During his visit to Haridwar, Swami Avatar Puriji was also received and honoured by the President of Sri Ganga Sabha at Har Ki Pauri Ghat, where he joined the evening Ganga Aarti (prayers) and performed sacred pujas (ceremonies) to Mother Ganga with his deep sankalpa for the well-being of all.
Together with Vishwaguruji’s devotees from India and abroad, he also performed the morning snan (ritual bath) and puja during Brahma Muhurta, offering prayers for peace, love and liberation for all beings.
Since the Vedic period, Mother Ganga has been revered not only as the lifeline of India but as the goddess of purification, forgiveness, and liberation.
Visit to the Daksha Mahadev Temple
Another significant moment was Swami Avatar Puriji’s darshan and abhishek at the historic Daksha Mahadev Temple. This sacred temple, deeply rooted in Vedic history and mentioned in the Mahabharata, stands at the site of King Daksha’s great yagya and the legendary self-sacrifice of Sati, the divine consort of God Shiva. The timeless lessons of sacrifice, devotion and divine unity embedded in this story continue to guide and inspire seekers on their spiritual journey.
In this hallowed place, Swami Avatar Puriji performed abhishek on the special Shiva Lingam, the very form in which God Shiva manifested to sanctify and complete King Daksha’s sacred yagya.
Closing Reflections
As the final act of purification and spiritual transformation in the sacred atmosphere of Haridwar, resonating with prayers, pujas and mantras, Swami Avatar Puriji offered the symbolic act of shaving his hair, aligning himself with religious discipline and inner growth.
As the holy scriptures proclaim that all sacred places and all holy rivers ultimately reside at the lotus feet of Gurudev, Swami Avatar Puriji returned to OM Ashram and, with a pure heart, offered the fruits of this blessed yatra (pilgrimage) to Vishwaguruji.
Swami Avatar Puriji shared:
“Returning from Haridwar, sitting once more at the feet of Gurudev. His darshan and blessings are the guiding light for the journey ahead. Every step feels lighter, every path clearer in His Grace. In the silence of Guru’s presence, the soul rediscovers its true strength.”
